3D rendering is helpful for visualizing complex spaces (elaborate lobbies, concert halls, atriums, and so on) that are harder to get one’s mind wrapped around than the usual rectangular room.

More importantly, 3D rendering, even at a fairly sketchy level of detail, has been hugely useful for clients. Many people can’t really read plans, and very few people who don’t work with plans regularly can get a sense of what a place will look like and feel like to be inside of from just seeing its plan.
